Ten American classics adapted and illustrated for young readers, collected in a turquoise slipcase printed "The American Classics — Children's Collection". On its way to the Antwerp shelves.
Editor's Note
Some books are too big for a young reader — not too difficult, but too long, too slow, full of pages where nothing seems to move. An adaptation that keeps the shape of the story, and keeps the illustrations, is how a reader meets a book early enough to want the original later. This set gathers ten American stories that would otherwise arrive one at a time: a green light across the bay, a whaling ship that will not stop, a dog who remembers kindness, a man who wakes after twenty years. Ten different doors into the same literature. The slipcase does something else too — ten bright spines in a row make choosing the next book part of the pleasure, rather than a decision a parent has to make.
Because the books young readers meet first tend to be the ones they keep. We selected this collection because it puts ten well-known American stories in a format made for children — adapted and illustrated for young readers, with a free audiobook included — so reading aloud and reading alone can both happen from the same box. It also solves the practical problem of a children's shelf: one set, ten books, and a place to put them.

The slipcase is printed "Easy Classics", "The American Classics Children's Collection" and "Adapted and illustrated for young readers", and states that a free audiobook is included with a QR code inside.
